After having tasted success in Pune first, Chai La Tandoor Chai has now opened up an outlet in Borivali. Situated opposite Kalyan Jewellers on SV Road, this tiny outlet doles out a new, innovative and delicious version of an Indian's most favourite beverage (more like fuel)- chai.
As if the already existing varieties of tea were not enough, the brains behind Chai La have introduced Tandoori Chai (yes, you read that right) at only INR 20.
First, clay pots (aka kullads) are roasted in a piping hot tandoor. Then, cooked masala chai is poured over this kullad; you will see it bubble its way out of the kullad into the vessel in which the kullad is placed. At the end of this sizzling affair, the final beverage is served in a clean kullad for you to relish on, sip by sip. The entire process that the masala chai goes through gives the chai a strong earthy aroma that makes it all the more delicious.
