Nalli Nihari, Mutton Paya Curry & More: This Colaba Home Chef Is Serving Authentic Sindhi Food

Mamma’s Cucina is a new home-delivery service in Colaba serving up authentic homemade Sindhi food, and it is for everyone who wants to get their hands on tasty grub.

Mamma’s Cucina has been started off by Colaba-based home chef Poonam Shahani. Serving up authentic Sindhi food which she makes herself – the idea has been in the making for a while now.

Fond of cooking and feeding people, Poonam often hosted dinner parties with a lavish spread, all cooked by her. There was mutton biryani, Sindhi curry, and more – all received fairly well. This prompted Poonam to distribute her menu via Whatsapp and start off her home-delivery service by the name Mamma’s Cucina.

Mamma’s Cucina food is definitely worth going for, with its homemade comfort and love. The menu is simple- yet will leave a lasting impact- and caters to vegetarians as well as non-vegetarians.

The menu offers sai bhaji {a special Sindhi delicacy made from dal and palak} for INR 365, dahi kadhi {INR 300}, bhuga chawal {rice cooked with caramelised onions} for INR 275. For the carnivores, there’s Poonam’s famous mutton biryani {INR 850}, nalli nihari {INR 800}, mutton haleem {INR 750} and more.

All of the food is cooked by Poonam herself with recipes that she and her family are privy to. With curry that feels like wrapping ourselves in a warm blanket during the monsoon, and the meat juicy and cooked fine, we find ourselves falling in love with the Sindhi food. The portions are big and easily serve up to four people {and totally affordable for a homemade meal}.

Currently, the delivery is available in Colaba, Churchgate, Nariman Point, Marine Drive, Fort and Cuffe Parade. Do make sure to place your order at least 12 to 24 hours in advance.
