Peddle Up, Peddle Down

The awesome travel company Travel Master Gogo organises these biking expeditions around Mumbai, one of which is to the Global Vipassana Pagoda.

The Pagoda, a magnificent unmissable building is actually a meditation centre in Gorai. People often take the train or a car to reach this destination, but you can take the path less travelled – on a bicycle.

Why Should I Go Here?

The group will take care of you, making sure you don’t get lost around the way. The ride along the way is absolutely scenic, and includes cycling on the beach, taking two ferry rides, and riding through different fishing villages. They also give a peek into the history of East Indian villages. They do take you to the Global Vipassana Pagoda where you can visit the outer sanctum {the inner chambers are reserved for those who take the course. The ride is a relaxed, leisurely one, taking about 4-4.5 hours one way. You stop at many sights, explore the area, pick up light breakfast. If asked in advance, you can even eat a traditional meal at an East Indian family’s home.
