What Is It?

Dharavi Art Room is completing its eight years this December and to commemorate the glorious and beautiful years they’ve had so far, they are organising an event on 18 December called ‘ABCD: ART From Bombay Dharavi’  from 11 am to 6 pm.

What’s It About?

Dharavi Art Room run by Himanshu S and Aqui Thami has been encouraging the art movement among the kids from the the largest slum of Asia, Dharavi, and also supporting women from the marginalised communities for the past eight years. By setting up their art room in Dharavi itself, they opened the doors of engaging these marginalised communities, especially the kids by the tool of art. They have organised art workshops, activities and more for the kids over the years, forging a strong bond with the community there.

To commemorate the eight years of this hard work, ABCD {which is also their annual festival} is being organised on Sunday, 18 December which will feature a preview of the exhibition that will showcase photographs and artworks that have been done by the kids of Dharavi.

Why Should I Go?

Some of these talented kids are as young as eight years old, and through this celebration, one can support their talent in our own little way. The paintings will be up at display as well which have been painted by the kids of the Art Room.

The festival will happen at The Dharavi Art Room and their beautiful Underground Bookstore in Bandra. It’s open to one and all, so join them in for a good day of food and music.

So, We’re Saying…

Let Christmas come early this year whilst you channel your inner Santa to support these tiny humans of Dharavi and the people running it. We’ll be there, and we hope to see you too.
