Whether you're a food lover, or a Bengali who is not going to be able to go back home for some authentic home booked Bengali feast (or both) don't worry. Because we've rounded up a list of a few of our favourite Bengali restaurants in the city for you to get your hands on some delish and authentic 'Bangali Ranna'.

Bon appétit!

Bijoli Grill, Powai

Having started in 2007-2008, Bijoli Grill in Powai is one of the first authentic Bengali restaurants in the city. Durga Puja celebrations in the central suburb of Mumbai are one of the biggest in this city, and it was obvious that Bengalis in the area were hungry for a placed that served authentic cuisine.

What To Try: They have a brilliant variety of dishes (even vegetarian) They also serve rolls, that will remind you of Nizam's in Kolkata's New Market. Be sure to head there for a sumptuous feast.

Don’t Miss: Mustard fish, aloo poshto, mutton curry

Shell Out: INR 1,300 for two people approx. (minus alcohol)

Pro-Tip: We've heard that they are coming up with a special set menu for Pujo, specially curated for Durga Pujo from October 22nd to 25th.

Oh! Calcutta (Multiple Outlets)

One of the only Bengali restaurants in the city having a bar, Oh! Calcutta is the most commercially successful restaurant chains (amongst traditionalists and first timers) serving authentic cuisine. After all, who would mind some Calcutta Fish Fry and a whiskey (on-the-rocks of course) to go with it!

Don’t Miss: Fish fry, Mutton cutlets, Murgi Poshto

Shell Out: INR 2,000 for two people approx.

Pro-Tip: Keep an eye out for Pujo specials on their a la carte menu

Hangla’s, Multiple Outlets

Primarily a delivery joint, there is almost no seating space at their outlets. But rest assured, Hangla’s will satiate the craving you have for some good Bengali cuisine. They have several outlets between Lower Parel and Kandivali. And people usually park their cars outside the joint and eat out of it.

Don’t Miss: Chicken and mutton rolls (especially the double mutton roll), and Mishti Doi

Shell Out: INR 500 to INR 700 for two people approx.

Just Bengal, Andheri

Located near Andheri Station, Just Bengal is a homely little delivery service that serves traditional recipes for those on the run. Just Bengal doesn’t hit your wallet too hard.

Don’t Miss: Traditional Bhog complete with Beguni, Bashonti Pulao, Pulao, Mangsho

Shell Out: INR 400 for two people approx

Pro-Tip: They are taking orders via the phone. They will send your order via Dunzo. Call them up at 9819959320

Mustard, Worli

This one's a beautiful fine-diner at Worli's Atria Mall that marries Bengali cuisine to French. And if you're planning to take your folks out for lunch or dinner (who cooks at home during Durga Pujo anyway?) this one's a really good option.

Don't Miss: Mangsher Bhaja, Bengal Mezze Platter, Niramish Paturi

Shell Out: INR 2,100 for two people approx.

Pro-Tip: Don't forget to take some shots of the beautiful restaurant for your Gram!

The Calcutta Club, Oshiwara

This one looks like its right out of Calcutta. You'll see old black and white frames hung on walls when you enter the small cafe-like joint. Located in Oshiwara, this one stands out for its amazing Shutki Maachher Chocchori.

Don't Miss: Shutki Chocchori, Fish Fry, Luchi and Kosha Mangsho, Mishti Doi.

This casual dining establishment in Andheri is our comfort zone close to home. The service and staff here are courteous, and the interesting, cozy ambiance keeps us coming back for more.

Jamai Shashthi

This is one we've ordered in from regularly and highly recommend their Bengali veg thali, fish fry, and the shukto. The food is simple and absolutely hits the spot if you're craving Bengali comfort food.
