Mo’s Kefir is fermented milk made with the maximum possible nutritional values. The concept was ideated by Moina Oberoi – who has been following her passion for fermented products and incorporates that in her diet – started off Mo’s Superfoods with the same philosophy. Kefir has been a part of her diet and to start the brand with kefir was a logical step, she tells us.

Mo’s Superfoods was launched on November 26 with their delivery following a soft launch. They have a dairy technician on-board as well, Jacopo, who is from Italy and provides the much-needed passion and inputs to Mo’s superfoods.

What We Love

Mo’s Kefir is made with 100% PH {pasteurised and homogenised milk} – giving it a rich and healthy flavour. The kefir culture is sourced from Italy and is processed at their manufacturing unit set up in Lower Parel. The Kefir is, then, brewed for at least 36 to 48 hours approximately.

We loved the flavour of Mo’s Kefir – it immediately refreshed us and we knew where it was coming from. Moina tells us her idea for Superfoods is to introduce more fermented products as she believes they are good for the gut and for living a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. Therefore, Mo’s Kefir is free of all synthetic flavours and chemicals – keeping it as organic and fresh as possible. It also comes in small cute food grate bottles – easy to drink out from or carry around after an intense workout session.

Anything Else?

One can easily sign up for the subscription. They deliver from South Bombay to Juhu, Wadala and Sion. Do keep in mind, the orders need to be placed 48 hours in advance – as they make fresh batches according to the orders received. The Kefir has a shelf life of 15 days – and should be consumed within four days of opening it. The delivery days are Wednesdays and Saturdays between 7.30 am to 10am.

#LBBTip: Moina has shared her tips for mixing up Kefir with different recipes with us- and how you can use it. You can replace your buttermilk and curd with kefir in your favourite chaas, lassi and raita recipes. Simply add the kefir to your morning cereal or to thicken soups. You can also mix it: add your favourite natural sweetener; 1 tablespoon of honey or powdered jaggery and mix well. Or better yet, blend it with some ice. Kefir is also an amazing marinade for meats, specially white meats.
