What Is It?

Expressions In Ink is an intriguing and engaging exhibition by writer and artist Shivranjana Rathore who is displaying her artwork from the Inktober at The Cuckoo club until December 31. You can also buy her artwork of sketches she created during Inktober.

Who Is It For?

For everyone who considers themselves to be a connoisseur of the arts. Expression In Ink is for anyone who loves sketches and wants to support an upcoming artist. Shivranjana Rathore who shifted base to Mumbai a couple of years back from Jaipur will be exhibiting her artwork along with other paper products. The artwork began as a project during the month of October aka Inktober, that is, one ink sketch a day for 31 days. Taken up as a project to challenge herself, she eventually came out with beautiful and edgy artwork.

However, the most unique facet of the exhibition is that every single piece of artwork comes attached with a thought bubble that features a short endearing poem by Rathore herself. She tells us, the sketches narrate a theme as Inktober had a ‘prompt’ for every single day. This drove Rathore to explore the theme in detail with her own take on it and in turn open it up for interpretation post the sketch is done.

Why Should I Go?

You will be able to buy Rathore’s artwork at the exhibition in the form of postcards {INR 225 for a set of 10}, notebooks {INR 350}, posters {INR 450 upwards}, and tote bags {INR 600}, apart from the enlarged framed sketches.

Anything Else?

The exhibition is on till 31 December, and we love the artwork by Rathore which began as a project to challenge herself. Our favourite sketches include Flight of The Witch, Orange Squeeze, Tree of Wonder and Burn. They all come attached with a story or with Rathore’s observations which culminated into her art. We’re saying, go there and support her beautiful yet whimsical artwork .
