Bandra’s favourite cultural venue that shut in 2016 is now officially re-launching their newest space in Andheri as BOTCulture by The Hive At Brewbot Eatery & Brewery. We checked it out, and have come back with the intel.

Back, With A Bang!

The Hive, with Sudip Nair and Sharin Bhatti at the helm was truly one of the first cultural venues in Mumbai that provided the independent community and artists with a relevant platform. Though the curtains went down on the physical space on November 30, 2016 – the concept carried on.

Sharin tells us The Hive has always been about building a network of cultural spaces across the city and beyond. The new space will form the backbone of experimental acts and give Andheri a cultural boost – something which it has been lacking in terms of variety of things one can go out for.

The plan is to take one neighborhood at a time and hopefully spread it across the city. Other cities are in the plan too.

What’s New Then?

On Brewbot’s third-year anniversary {that’s today}, BOTCulture by The Hive is launching on the first floor which will be a dedicated alternative and an experimental cultural venue. A collaborative project between Brewbot and The Hive, the space has a bar that will also serve finger food – so we’ve been told.

For Anand Morwani, co-owner of Brewbot, BOTCulturre is simply adding soul to Andheri. He believes with a dedicated and experimental venue like this, more people will be willing to travel to Andheri for unique experiences.

We loved the vibe of the place – it’s big enough to accommodate at least 50 people, but still intimate enough for the artists and the performers to hold the attention of the audience. And that’s the idea behind this space – to give the space to artists and performers a chance to engage with the audience. They can try out new stuff and get immediate feedback.

In the past couple of months, a lot of trial shows have happened here. From Rohan Joshi and Tanmay Bhat trying out their new pieces to the first ever Marathi stand-up comedy show, the experiments have worked out.

And in the coming months, you can expect everything you did from the old Hive ti be here, with something extra, of course. There’s going to be plays, music gigs, poetry sessions, physical and education workshops, talks, sessions and everything that is interesting and unique.

So, We’re Saying…

With The Hive’s relaunch in Andheri, we are really looking forward to some class acts, performances and events. We’re all for Andheri becoming a cultural hub.

They have an entire schedule planned out, so make sure to follow them.
