Have you had to choose between comfort and style? If your answer is affirmative (with a heavy sigh), look up House of Hues, a label that is reviving the art of block printing with contemporary designs at affordable prices.

What Makes It Awesome

Started in September 2017 by Prutha and her mom Hema, it was thanks to their love for all things ethnic and sustainable that they began work on this label. Now joined by another friend, Carabelle Carvalho, they are together the brains behind everything – from carving hand blocks, to designs. They primarily work with handlooms, linen and pure cotton, and their block paints are nothing but pigment colours and natural dyes.

All these designs and colours finally make their way to create men’s western wear, women wear (both Indian and western), stoles, dupattas, and soft furnishings for your home like bedsheets, pillow covers, cushions and tablecloths. And the best part? They are open to customising prints and designs depending on your choice if any.

To offer a sense of pricing, their stoles/dupattas are priced between INR 650 – INR 850. Women’s shirt with fancy sleeves is for INR 1,450, men’s hand blocked shirt for INR 1,550 and ruffle sleeves top for ladies for INR 1,550. They also make jackets to add to your outfits with block printing priced at INR 1,699 and daily wear cotton tops can be bagged for INR 800.

While they have a prompt response on their social media handles, they stock their collection in a store in Mulund called Rangoon Studio.
