Scrolling through Instagram sometimes yields surprising bonuses. I definitely felt that when I came across Awezah. Browsing through their catalogue had me reaching for the phone to find out more about this homegrown brand that captured my attention.
Based out of a workshop in Gurgaon (Gurugram), where the magic happens, this label combines a minimal and modern vibe with the personal touch of handcrafted materials. Working mainly with metal and wood, their collection is both wearable and affordable. Priyam, the founder, tells me that she wants the brand to be approachable and wearable so that everyone including a college student can enjoy their products. Originally a Mass Communication graduate by training, she researches the designs herself and works with her team to turn imagination into reality. Pretty cool, right?
While the designs are regularly updated, currently you'll find her inspiration for hoops and natural designs like geometric patterns found in nature - think beehive, delicate hoops with a bird motif, autumn leaves and even pandas! I personally love jewellery inspired by nature and am crushing on quite a few of her designs.
I asked Priyam to choose 3 of her own designs that she'd like to share with us. Birdie Hoops at INR 499 (love these too!), Jar Jar Hoops at INR 449 (for the friend who loves quirky designs) and Conifer Hoops at INR 549 (for those who miss the mountains, like me!).
