Fingers Crossed: Mumbai May Soon Get Backwaters Along With A New Ferry Service
Tell Me More
As reported by Hindustan Times here, state education and guardian minister Vinod Tawde has proposed to develop the Marve-Manori-Gorai coastline on the lines of the Kerala backwaters. The announcement was made at the foundation-laying ceremony for the construction of a jetty at Marve for the Ro-Ro ferry service.
Now before you cringe and go on a rant about how dirty the city is, don’t worry -necessary measures will be taken to make sure it is clean. The ferry, anyway, will cut the travelling time of the 37-km road distance. Covering routes from Borivali-Gorai, Bhayander-Vasai, Versova to Palghar – the ferry service is expected to take off by May 2018.
So, We're Saying...
With the ferry already rolling off in May next year, let’s hope the High Court gives its nod to the backwaters plan as well.
