While exploring Dadar West, we came across this store beneath Shiv Sena Bhavan. What drew our attention to the store and invited us to step in was the figure of the fisherwoman sitting with her freshly caught wares just outside the store - perhaps fitting for a shop stocking products from along the Konkan belt.
Step inside and you'll find a plethora of traditional village and small industry products sourced from the Konkan Belt. In fact, a sign outside tells you exactly all the different types of masalas and traditional flours and food items you'll find here. Looking to cook an authentic fish curry? They have a classic macchi masala as well as a Malvani masala, you'll find the multi-purpose goda masala, vada pith, modak pith, nachni pith and more. We're always on the hunt for nutritious, local grains that we can add to our diet - and we think we found a great spot in Dadar for that in this store. Besides these, they also have pickles, syrups, snacks, so many types of ladoos, papads and more. We also find the wooden toys made in classic old school style a great pick if you've a kid in your life.
The best part? The store is an initiative to provide jobs and a livelihood to women in Konkan villages from where where the products are sourced. And we have no doubt that's a cause we can absolutely get behind!
