Ten-Second Takeaway

Andheri now has one of the biggest cocktail bars in the city with Bombay Cocktail Bar having opened its doors over the weekend. We explore why it should be considered next time you want to get out and dance.

What Is It?

A black and gold-themed lounge spread across 2,400 sq.ft of space {a luxury in the city}, Bombay Cocktail Bar definitely joins the brigade of well-styled spaces in the city.

The seating looks like it has been thought through, with ample space for people to move around, high stools with bars to descend easily {god knows how many short people hate bars because of the stools} and the performance area is bang in the middle, making it accessible and the centre of attention.

With high ceilings and Colosseum-like walls lining the seating area, it almost feels like you’re in a mini-stadium. The lights are not jarring and strobes do not pierce your pupils because they’ve moved on from that. Instead, what you get is a circular DJ/performance arena with projections on the faux-ceiling above it. We love it because it gives you ample space to move around and doesn’t induce claustrophobia, thanks to the high-ceilings. We need more of these places, please.

Chow Down

The menu is not restricted to a particular cuisine but Indian dishes take the lead. We like that each section {starters, mains, dessert} have a set price. Their vegetarian appetisers are priced at INR 333 and non-vegetarian starters come at INR 360, regardless of whether you order a tempura prawn or a boti kebab.

While there are Italian, Chinese, Japanese and Continental touches with pizza, pasta and burgers on the menu, we like that they have a comfort food section too. Also keep your eyes open for their Mumbai specials..

Sip On

With the focus on being an exclusive cocktail bar, BCB has some of the good mixologists in the city to back up their claim. They have their signature cocktails like Nomayo {whisky smoked with orange peels, cinnamon and nitro stirred with liquer}. Their signature cocktails are priced at INR 369 and tiki cocktails at INR 396. If you’d like to stick to the usual, there’s always the classics at INR 396.

So, We’re Saying…

With so much space, we hope it becomes the next venue for gigs that people can attend without stepping on to other people’s shoes.
