What Makes It Awesome

The Pottery Lab is a creative space in the greens of Pali Hill, housed in the backyard of a beautiful old bungalow. At the helm is ceramic artist Rekha Goyal, who runs the space at Temperance, along with a dance studio and yoga space.

Rekha conducts classes and workshops in the weekdays and weekends, with 10 sessions per course and each session is for two hours. The beginner’s course is designed to give students an overview to the medium while picking up the basics of ceramics and pottery. Rekha teaches you hand building techniques of working with clay, introduces you to the potter’s wheel (known as Throwing), surface decoration technique, glaze application, and a basic level of theory so that you understand the materials that you are using. While you enroll for her classes, here's what you'll be asked to get- a hand towel, a medium-sized airtight container, an apron, a rough paper and pen or pencil. There'll be a toot kit that'll be provided to you in the beginning of the class (for INR 450) and you can keep it even after the completion of the course.

The space is beautiful and instils a sense of calm as soon as you set foot on the property. Rekha also has a cabinet space that she calls ‘The Clay Closet’ where you will see pieces made by her- crockery, brain vita, platters and more. The collection starts at INR 650. We say, there's lots to be learnt here so, if you see yourself s(killing) it here, do stop by and say hi to Rekha.

Fees: INR 13,200 + 18% GST (Total Rs.15,576) for the complete course that is inclusive of materials and firing of a maximum of four pieces.
