While strolling the streets of Bandra, we stumbled upon a bungalow that houses Lifaafa, a hidden gem that houses clothes, accessories, and even home decor sourced from around the world.

Step Back In Time

Lifaafa is, in all its sense a hidden gem, and we say that because it takes a while to figure out where it actually is. Nicely tucked away inside an old Bandra Bungalow, Vithal Bhavan, Lifaafa was started by Meenal Agarwal who is a production designer and has worked on the likes of Phillauri, Ankhon Dekhi and more, along with her partner, Rabiya.

As a concept it’s simple – it’s a collaborative space that is an extension of Meenal and her time working on films as a production designer. Everything has been handpicked by Meenal herself- whether it’s wallpapers, clothes, an apothecary table or the lamps.

A Space For Independent Designers

Lifaafa as a concept is true to its motto, and that is to give space to independent artists, freelancers, or even studios to showcase their products. Entering this space is like being transported to a tea house in Wales with its Victorian aesthetics and attic-like space.

The studio is divided across two floors, the ground floor houses a beautiful chandelier and a kitchen. The first floor is where people sit and talk shop, with more products on display.

At Lifaafa, you can just walk around the house and find products displayed on furniture. Perhaps you’re in a vintage store on the streets of Barcelona, or a designer boutique in Berlin – nevertheless, it’s a gorgeous space. They have wallpapers sourced from a brand in France, and some gorgeous floral ones from their in-house designer, Shruti Singhi. The pricing starts at INR 400 per square {depending on the material you want it printed on}.

What We Love

Everything about this space, and what it stands for. Since a lot of the items here have been sourced from outside or from indie brands, the pricing varies {and touches a higher end}. However, there’s something for everyone here. Gorgeous cotton-printed dresses, hemline skirts, and even leather bags {priced anything between INR 2,000 to INR 10,000 and above} make their way to this store’s shelves.

So, We're Saying...

We have found a new spot in Bandra that we love and prize. In fact, Lifaafa erratically organises their Open Studio, that is, a pop-up at their studio wherein everyone is welcome to come and shop and join in the merriment.

The upcoming Open Studio is happening on Friday, July 28 and concluding on Sunday, July 30. They will be featuring their in-house products, and brands like Ayka {lotions and oil starting at INR 800}, Tin Treasures {a brand from Delhi that makes nostalgic tin toys}, Runaway Bicycle, The Orient Line, Eye Candy {diaries and more}, And Nilaya {organic soaps}, and many more.

There’ll be coffee, hot chocolate and desserts as well, so be there.

Find them on Facebook here.
