What Makes It Awesome

Ahilaya has been around for ages, a benchmark for ethnic wear all around. We decided to step into the slightly intimidating boutique store in Colaba, and discovered a collection so dreamy we almost wished it was our wedding.

Ahilaya was founded by Anwar Ahmed Ansari back in 1960s. It is known for its handcrafted chikkankari and zardosi clothing, with beautiful kurtis, long anarkalis and stoles.

The collection is generally a play on your primary colours, the pastels and sometimes with bright colours thrown in for good measure. We like it for its very minimal yet intricate collection, perfect for the sangeet, wedding, or even any traditional festival that's upcoming.

What Could Be Better?

It's a high-end brand, as skilled artisans are brought in to work on the details for every piece of garment. Hence, the pricing is definitely exorbitant.

However, if you're ok to splurge, then you can easily pick up a beautiful anarkali or two for yourself.

What's My Pro Tip?

They often have sales {and the prices really become affordable here}, so make sure to keep an eye out for that.

Anything Else?

A simple kurti here would start at INR 4,500 and the prices go up {approx INR 22,500} depending on the work done on the garments. If you'd like to pick up a set, you can mix and match, as they also have palazzo pants and dupattas at an offer.

They also have a kids section and a men's section. One can easily spend hours trying on clothes, and perhaps even Instagram the place {an ode to thee sneaky self}.
