How was our weekend, you ask? Well, we got drenched in the rain, slept in and found the best thing ever in Mumbai – chocolate momos. Also, a momo burger.

You’re Kidding Me, Right?

When it comes to food, we don’t ever think we’ll mess with you. A small hole-in-the-wall eatery called Dumpling Khang sits hidden in Santacruz East, and while it doesn’t look like much from the outside, lo and behold! It serves North Eastern food.

Our Picks

Their menu is one to please and befuddle, all at once. They have over 12 types of momos and so many types of thukpas – aloo thukpa and thukpa with momos in it, anyone?  And here’s what we found extremely innovative – momo burgers. That’s right. Two fresh, fluffy buns pressing down fried momos {veg, chicken, prawn, or mushroom cheese} along with lettuce, sauces and dressing. Have we mentioned dessert momos {Nutella and dark chocolate} yet?

They also have regular Chinese starters, noodles and rice dishes. Keeping no regard for protocol, we started our meal with the dark chocolate-filled momos and worked our way forward. The momos were genuinely delicious, that is once you get over the idea of having sweet momos. The filling is generous, melts in your mouth and is an innovation we wonder why we haven’t tried before. Then, we finished up a plate of pan-fried veggie momos with a lovely sweet-and-spicy sauce.

We then gorged on chicken thukpa with momos, and loved the flavours of it. Not to forget, we gave that momo burger a shot too {good, but more so for the novelty factor}. Their noodles, too, were spiced well and were filling.

So, We're Saying...

All these dishes and a few more cost us only INR 500, and left us feeling warm, well-fed and very happy. Give this place a try soon.

#LBBTip

It really is a small establishment with a couple of two-seater tables. Go with a friend or a date, otherwise pick up the phone and call.
