Mumbai is set to welcome two new multi-sports complexes into the city- one at Veera Desai Road in Andheri and the other at Bhavdevi Ground in Dahisar. It's time to get fitter, one sports complex at a time.
Slated for completion by May this year (the facility at Andheri is scheduled to finish by March 2019), this is Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) first-of-its-kind project in the city. According to this report, the cost of building the Andheri sports complex across 49,000 sq metres is estimated at INR 23 crores, while the Dahisar sports complex which boasts of being the biggest in Mumbai will be spread over 51,000 sq metres and is estimated to cost INR 22 crores. Now, that's some crazy news!
While the Andheri sports complex is approximately 80% ready, the Dahisar facility is about half done and work is on in full swing to meet the deadlines set.
The Andheri sports complex boasts of facilities for cricket, lawn tennis, football, kabaddi, kho-kho, basketball, volleyball and mallakhamb. The Dahisar facility, in addition to all the above will also house an open gym! The fees for using these facilities are yet to be decided, so we're keeping our fingers crossed. The sports complex will also have a dedicated play area for children.
Now that these sports complexes are only going to be a stone's throw away from you, what's your excuse going to be?
