#LBBLoves: This Film Festival In Versova Will Screen Classic Hindi Films On The Weekends

All you cinema lovers, a throwback NFDC film festival called ‘Aaj-Kal’ is being organised throughout July on the weekends beginning July 15 and Harkat Studios will be screening old cult classic favourites.

Who Is It For?

If you identify yourself as someone who loves cinema, then this one is for you. If you’ve been a fan of the old Hindi classic films and always wanted to appreciate those films in today’s setting, then Harkat Studios is doing that for you. The film festival is being organised by National Film Development Corporation {NFDC} and Big FM. Additionally, RJ Siddharth Mishra from BigFM will be leading these screenings.

The NFDC Film Festival will screen films through July on Saturdays and Sundays, spread over three weekends.

Why Should I Go?

You should go if you’re a fan of Mira Nair’s beautiful and intense classic, Salaam Bombay, or still are amazed by Smita Patil’s portrayal in Mirch Masala. The film festival has been curated by NFDC and Harkat Studios by Michaela Strobel and her partner, Karan Talwar have stepped into serve as the venue.

The idea is to curate films that are still relevant in today’s time. The schedule is as follows: Saturday, July 15 {7pm onwards} is fantasy drama, Om Dar-B-Dar; Sunday, July 16 {4pm} Mammo; Friday, July 21 {7pm} is Dharavi; Saturday, July 22 {noon} is Mira Nair’s Salaam Bombay followed by the screening of Gaman at 4pm and 7pm will see Mirch Masala. Finally, the last weekend of the festival, will see Jaane bhi do Yaaron on Sunday, July 23 {4pm} and Sunday July 30 {noon} Raghu Romeo}.

All of these are brilliant films, and will be followed by a round of Questions and Answers.

Anything Else?

Harkat Studios is a beautiful space in Versova and if you haven’t been there yet, you ought to go. The films be screened at the studios and the whole part of the experience is to watch a film in this converted beautiful bungalow with like-minded people.
