What Makes It Awesome

The aquarium stills stands to be one of the major tourist attractions in the city. We explore why you should give it a go on a weekend.

As a kid, your school picnic or excursion may have included a trip to Taraporewala Aquarium. The charm of this place doesn’t lie in the state-of-the-art infrastructure they may have installed, but in rekindling childhood memories. With over 400 species of fish and other creatures in their kitty, it’s still visited by school children during weekdays and tourists during weekends.

The aquarium is built in a circular form. You enter from one side, go all the way around and come back to a small museum where you can find corals, skeletons and equipment on display. The aquarium boasts of local fish {rohu, catla} and also exotic creatures from south-east Asia. We stopped by each cubicle and a little longer at the last one with the sea turtle.

Pro-Tip

The entry to the museum is nominal and you’ll easily spend anout two hours here. Also, please don’t bother carrying your camera here as they’re pretty strict about photography here.
