Pratap Lunch Home in Fort is your best bet for a delicious, hygienic and pocket-friendly seafood meal.

Chow Down

If you’re a hardcore seafood lover, the hunt for that perfect prawn curry, or that crispy surmai fry, or even tisrya masala {clams} is never-ending. And while there may be many options in the city, very few can match the goodness of Pratap Lunch Home. Authentic, tasty and completely fresh, come here if you want a gastronomic experience to top all others.

Tucked away in a bylane in Fort {Janmabhoomi Marg to be precise}, Pratap was founded in 1961 and was the first Mangalorean seafood restaurant in Mumbai. Over the years, of course, it has introduced other cuisines too, but those who know Pratap will always come here for the seafood.

Begin your meal with their delicious prawn koliwada which has masaledaar prawns deep-fried to perfection, followed by a must-have – the bombil fry. Their surmai tawa fry is a house speciality, so you must give that one a shot too.

For the mains, without a question opt for their pomfret/prawn/rawas gassi with neer dosa – it truly does not get more divine than this. The gassi is so beautifully made, you will be able to detect the individual flavours of each of the ingredients. Another house speciality, the crab meat sukha or hariyali is delicious {in fact, it’s one of their widely popular dishes} and can be teamed with the neer dosa too. They also make scrumptious meat – both mutton and chicken varieties – but to be honest, go here purely for their seafood because you wont find another place quite like this.

What Else?

Cosy and bright interiors, and a friendly staff as well both make this a truly fun experience for all their patrons. They also have a full bar service, in case you’d like to down some chilled beer with your hot food. They accept Sodexo coupons and take party orders too.

So We’re Saying…

If you truly love seafood and want to experience the goodness of the Mangalorean cuisine, this is where you should be. So waste no time and plan your next meal here already.
