Not For The Faint-Hearted: Go On This Monsoon Trek About 2 Hours Away From Mumbai

The information in this post might be outdated

What Is It?

A really exciting trek awaits 2 hours away from Mumbai at Peb Vikatgad – a fort with a view located near Matheran.

How Do I Get There?

Peb Vikatgad lies near Neral, which is in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. Simply put, it is very close to Matheran. To reach Peb Vikatgad, you can board a train from Dadar towards Karjat and get off at the Neral station. From there, Peb Vikatgad is a few kilometres away.

What's Unique About It?

This trek is of medium difficulty and you can finish it within one hour’s time from the base in Fanaswadi village. The ways are slightly confusing so keep your maps on, or as read in this blog, follow the electric poles to stay on track and you will reach the top, where a cave and a temple await. Along the way, you’ll also find several small waterfalls. The best bit of the trek is the view to the top, however.

Don't Leave Home Without...

Shoes with good grip, a raincoat, energy bars and snacks as the whole journey up and back will take you some time.
