What Makes It Awesome

Backpacking has grown exponentially in India. From the Leh and Kashmir regions to the North- East and going down to the south of India. Backpacking and backpackers have evolved and many so in the very recent years.

Now, with the experience I have got, through my backpacking adventure, its vital for me to share these things...

Firstly, lets talk Budget (because who doesnt want to save money)! 3 major things which will consume your budget will be Hotel stay, transport and travelling within the region.

1. Lets cover stay: If you can adjust a little with your comfort, Hostels are the best way to cut down on stay. Go on hostelworld.com and you will get all the information on hostels you need. They are very safe for solo travellers, for families and with kids alike. If you want to even cut down more, look for homestay at a locals place. The locals are more than happy to welcome you and the biggest advantage is you get home-cooked meals. All this for a budget amount in return for a heart-warming stay experience.

2. Travel to and fro: If you are having limited days in hand, do yourself a favour and plan your trip and flight booking 2 months in advance to get the best rates. (You will be thankful to yourself later)

3. Local transport is actually a matter of priority and how much of adventure you are in for.
You can really explore the region best and at a very low cost by taking local connecting buses than by hiring a cab. If you are going to Himachal or Uttarakhand or any other region in north, you can easily rely on the state running buses which is UKRTC and HRTC.

If you are choosing to travel this way, then check a day prior about the departing timing of the local buses and the halting destination and if you have to catch another bus , check the timing for that too.

These methods will happily make you spend less and explore more.

Keep exploring!
