While eating out is often (more often than not) a pleasurable experience, it is also a constant battle of choosing between the old establishments that have existed since time immemorial and the new restaurants that bring to us cuisines previously never heard of.

We've had our fair share of eating out this year and as we advance towards the end of the year (which is also when we will make a resolution to eat out less), we have rounded up a list of some of the best restaurants that have appealed to our innovation-craving palates. Check out what we have in store for you.

Bayroute - Mediterranean

Huge ornamental windows with translucent curtains, dainty lamps which remind you of Arabian nights, hot air balloons that take you to Cappadocia and the beautifully patterned floor will welcome you when you step inside Bayroute {sounds like a love at first sight affair}. Although the gorgeous and modern interiors do take your breath away, Bayroute’s authentic and delectable Middle Eastern delicacies steal the show.

Hoppumm- Sri Lankan

After repeatedly popping up at popular events and fleas in the city. Hoppumm has finally found itself a home for itself, in Bandra. Hoppumm is a micro-eatery with a unique twist - where hot appams are carefully set on biodegradable plates (banana leaves add that whimsical touch) and you have different kinds of stew placed right in the centre, with a garnish that makes you wonder why you never thought of this in the first place. The name Hoppumm itself is derived from appams from the South and Hoppers, Sri Lanka's staple meal that is actually an appam. While the joint can seat around 15-20 people, it's pretty popular already, with people streaming in and out in regular flow.

Sante Spa Cuisine

Infusing freshness into its ambience, décor and spa cuisine, Sante Spa Cuisine, in the heart of BKC, provides healthy vegetarian fare that’s organic, vegan and has a host of other health benefits. The décor reminds you of a time in South-East Asia, surrounded by bamboo walls, recycled lamps, a bookshelf with colour coded books and elements of greenery that add to the charm – neem wood plates, banana leaf straws, copper glasses for water, to name a few. The food is sourced from heritage farms across the city, giving importance to the naturalness of the ingredients and the cooking techniques.

Warm lighting, jazz music, the loud chattering of hungry diners and the smell of food in the air are just a few noticeable things at Mustard.
