Rustic Hue is a sustainable and handwoven fashion label that believes in zero waste and instead, creates their garments using the up-cycling technique.

Rustic Hue is a green label from Bhubaneswar that creates beautiful contemporary clothing which is all hand-woven and handcrafted. The fashion label was started off by Swikruti Pradhan {NIFT graduate} who launched her own label to connect to what’s close to her heart, nature. Having worked with a lot of fashion labels, she decided to pursue her own label to explore more from her hometown’s handloom and textile industry.

The garments by Rustic Hue are handcrafted by handloom weavers, and also use upcycled materials sourced from around the country. The zero waste concept plays in to the extent that no thread, or fabric is wasted, it’s instead reused to create another garment or embroidered to give it a fine finish.

The pastel and refreshing hues of the garments as currently they are working with two fabrics, cotton and silk. The garments are hand-stitched by handloom weavers and skilled craftsmen from villages in Balaghat and Sambhalpur in Odisha. This we believe gives the garments a traditional yet a very modern touch.

We especially loved the Summer collection of 2016, from boho dresses to skater skirts and handcrafted one-piece kurta. The collection is as dreamy as it is environmentally conscious. The intricate work and patterns on the dresses are absolutely magnificent, and are perfect for the Mumbai weather, summer or monsoon. Our favourite pick from the collection is the pale pink shift dress {INR 2,500}. The entire collection at the Rustic comes across as easy wear, something you can pick up and wear to work, or even parties.
