What Is It?

Have you ever seen a sound sculpture before? You can now at the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, where a work by Swiss sound artist Zimoun and Faulty scales can weigh you correctly/A moth and a room work by Indian sound artist Ish Shehrawat {Ish S}, will be on display.

Who Is It For?

04112016_bhaudajiladmuseum3For those looking for a very different kind of artistic experience. Using simple and functional components, Zimoun has built 'architecturally-minded platforms of sound'. The installations incorporate commonplace industrial objects.

Zimoun {born 1977} is a Swiss artist who lives and works in Bern, Switzerland. A self-taught artist, he is most known for his sound sculptures, sound architectures and installation art that combine raw, industrial materials such as cardboard boxes, plastic bags, or old furniture, with mechanical elements such as dc-motors, wires, microphones, speakers and ventilators. Check out a video of his work below to get an idea of what to expect.

Why Should I Go?

Because this art looks super intriguing and different from anything else we've seen. The sound sculpture exhibited by Zimoun is a graceful, mechanised work of playful poetry; its structural simplicity opens like an industrial bloom to reveal a complex and intricate series of relationships, an ongoing interplay between the artificial and the organic.

Anything Else?

Artist Ish Shehrawat will also host a walk-through on Monday, 21 November at 6:30pm at Special Project Space, Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum.
