What's Happening

Violence against women is prevalent throughout Myanmar - including areas affected by the present day political conflict. The four short and powerful docu-animations that will be screened {Home, Kayah Lily, Wave & Limbo}, aim at lending a voice to the heartbreaking stories of the women and girls who have suffered as victims of gender-based violence, especially rape.

The project has been initiated by Yangon Film School in Myanmar in collaboration with mentors Debjani Mukherjee and Paromita Vohra, who have spent many months in Myanmar with the women and girls whose stories we are presenting.

Arranged for by the Goethe Institute Mumbai, this is the first public screening happening in India released under the title "Stand Up for Women! Stand Up for Peace!".
