Sweet Meets Savoury With Sugar Play, A New Online Patisserie

Sugar Play is a recently launched online patisserie that makes gourmet fusion handmade desserts by combining two different but essential tastes, savoury and sweet, to create something unique and rare.

Savoury and sweet ingredients may not necessarily make for a perfect pair but if done right they can be exceptionally tasty. Sugar Play does exactly that, plays with the flavours to experiment and create novel desserts. Amit Mehta, the executive chef at Sugar Play comes trained from Le Cordon Bleu in London, along with Bharti Mehta {executive of food research} started off the patisserie

These gourmet desserts come in the form of their signature desserts, macarons, pralines & truffles and loaves {delicious freshly baked bread}. They deliver pan-Mumbai, however for deliveries beyond Powai {where they are based out of}, the order needs to be placed before 1pm for delivery between 3.30pm and 4.30 pm on the same day.

The stand out desserts were the Konkan Opera {INR 230} which was a sweet blend of chocolate jaconde, tender kokum cremeaux, original sin {INR 230} which is an egg-free dessert of dark Belgian chocolate with hints of sea salt caramel. If you want something lighter though, go for the soft crumbly loafs with fillings of walnut, pumpkin and seeds or orange cinnamon and more.

In the mood for some decadent desserts, we say give Sugar Play a try. Though the savoury and sweet combo may be a bit unappealing, the desserts are pretty rad. We’re excited about the new patisserie which we can now get home-delivered and have it on nights when we just want to curl up and relax.
