Eat, Drink & More: Here's Everything You Can Expect At The New Toit Brewery

Bringing easy breezy vibes, quirky cocktails, freshly brewed beer, and an ambience that is quintessentially Bangalore, Toit Brewery – Taproom & Kitchen, is already a winner. Plus, sourdough pizza to die/kill for.

Something’s Brewing

Collective hearts broke when Blue Frog decided to vacate their spot in Lower Parel. But pint by pint of their six brews, Toit, the much-adored brew pub from Bangalore, is piecing our hearts back together. The airy, space is split into different level, allowing you to pick from cosy booths, high tables for after work drinks, and regular tables. Or hang around by the large boat ashtray {the biggest in town apparently}, for all you smokers! But the best part? It’s got natural light streaming in from all direction and we can’t get enough of that!

We wasted no time in ordering the Tintin Toit, a hot favourite, we hear from LBB, Bangalore. Light and fruity, we’re fans now. We also happily guzzled down the Dark Knight {plus Chris Nolan brownie points} with hints of chocolate, coffee and that can never be bad! Order the sample tray which gets you these, in addition to the Basmati Blonde, Kilnaleck Red ale, Colonial Toit and the Toit Weiss, before you pick your favourites. Not a beer person? They have a selection of quirky cocktails too. We’ll point you straight in the direction of a G-String {er, the cocktail} which is a refreshing muddle of vodka, watermelon and mint. Or perhaps the Grandma’s Magic Rassam — whiskey, curry leaves, ginger, green chilli and rasam powder. It may be a bit confusing at first, but it’s worth a try.

South Represent

We’re intrigued by the food menu, mostly because it has a few South Indian classics with a twist. We loved the Chilli Cheese Bhajji, deep fried chillies that ooze molten cheese! Nizami Haleem Samosas means it can be Eid all year round, and if you want to give Brain Dry Fry a shot, do so here. You won’t even notice you’re eating brain in the little fried parcels. Yum! Oh, you’re the play-it-safe kind. Load up on Mac-N-Cheese Balls or Salmon Bruschetta, universal favourites in a different format. We’d skip the nachos, in favour of a salad {the beetroot, orange and goat cheese, is our pick}.

For main, two words for you: Sourdough Pizza! The Margherita is simple, subtle and we can eat copious amounts of it. We can also eat the Lamb, Fig and Cheese pizza forever now. We love how the mildly spiced lamb goes with the crunchy and slightly sweet figs — it’s a love triangle we’ll never break up. Almond Crusted Chicken was also a star, blending in succulent chicken, crispy bacon rashers, creamy sauce and a crunch of almonds. But our hearts have been stolen by the Highway Pandi Curry — Coorg-style {yes, that coffee country in Karnataka} pork belly slow-cooked to perfection, and served on a bed of ham {yaaas!} and peas upma. We’re headed back for the veggie Moussaka, Meen Moilee Kappa { a take on the Kerala staple} and Filo Strudel.

End with a light cheese cake, or a Filter Kaapi Pot De Creme, that is their version of a coffee kick.
