MAMI film festival has just started today, and it’s already created a huge buzz. There are movies being shown at the gorgeous newly-renovated Opera House, at a new French-style theatre in Bandra, and so much new, classic, independent, and regional cinema. If that isn’t enough to make you get off your seat, and well, plonk into another to watch a good movie, we have put together a few of the most anticipated movies to watch, and a trailer to give that push. Some of these can be watched after work too, if you have busy days.

Death In The Gunj

Death In The Gunj is a powerful coming-of-age Indian story directed by Konkana Sen Sharma, and this is incidentally her directorial debut. The cast includes Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey, and should be watched now as opposed to its actual release in 2017.

An Insignificant Man

Watch An Insignificant Man, a political documentary on Arvind Kejriwal. It shows an insider’s view on Aam Aadmi Party’s rise to power. It has been directed by Khushboo Ranka and Vinay Shukla.

The Red Turtle

A stunning animated film by the Khalil Ghabil production house, this is about story of a man who is confined to an island because of a turtle. This is its first screening in India, and you shouldn’t miss a chance to watch it.

Ventilator

Priyanka Chopra has now forayed into producing movies too, the start of it being this Marathi movie Ventilator. The story is about the chaos that erupts when a member of a Marathi family goes into a coma during the festivities of the Ganpati festival. The movie will be shown with subtitles, so even if you don’t know the language, you shouldn’t skip this one.

The cast includes Ashutosh Gawarikar too, just by the way, who was once an actor before he turned director.

Personal Shopper

Watch this thriller movie starring Kristen Stewart at the MAMI festival. The story is about an American girl in Paris who is in the fashion industry, and begins to receive messages from an unknown number, possibly a spirit.
