Love Halloween? Head To The HIVE For Spooky Times, Free Movies And More

Bhavika posted on 17th October

What Is It?

Books on Toast, one of our favourite book communities, is hosting a two-day Halloween carnival, The King’s Screech at the HIVE, and they’re calling all bibliophiles to join in the creeps.

Who Is It For?

If you love books, horror, and reading about horror, this is totally for you. Even if you don’t love books, but have a soft spot for Halloween, go here to watch the free movie screenings of Carrie and The Shining. There will be a Defence Against The Dark Arts workshop to combat all the evil bish-bosh and boggarts in your life, and no, this class won’t be ridikkulus.

Go show off at a Stephen King Quiz hosted by AIB’s Rohan Joshi, or be blown away by a comedy horror magic show, or a few 'clueless critic' sessions too. There will be awesome spooky merchandise to buy here as well.

Why Should I Go?

The entire event is inspired by Stephen King’s books, but it isn’t just about him. Books which are creepy, sinister, and at times just downright given us the heebeejeebies. It could be starting with the goosebumps RL Stine’s stories gave us, or the horror short stories by children’s writer Roald Dahl. Throw in Rabindranath Tagore’s imaginary ghosts and even Edgar Allan Poe’s rather disturbed raven, and you’ve got a perfectly atrocious bubbling pot of horror.

So, We’re Saying…

Trick or treat? We think it’s both, and that it will be a bloody {good} affair.

RIP, we mean RSVP to the event here. Grab your tickets here.
