Ahimsa Vegan Fest 2020

What's Happening?

Ahimsa. The term casts a pretty wide net, no? It’s an ideology that can pervade every part of your life, and can therefore apply to our food choices, too. So what comes as a result is a movement that recently entered the mainstream - Veganism!

We’re familiar with just what it means by now, aren’t we? In fact, the vegan-curious wave seems to be ever-expanding, courtesy Gamechangers, Earthlings, What The Health, and efforts by animal rights activists.

It was only a matter of time before the Ahimsa Fest became the event it is, today! If you’re sandwiched somewhere in the demographic that considers itself “vegan-curious”, newly veganized, or just a vegetarian who wants to know what it’s all about.... You’ve gotta make it for this one.

The 5th edition of the Ahimsa Festival’s going to be held at the Holy Family Ground at Andheri East, on the 26th of January. If you haven’t planned that weekend just yet, we think this is a great gig to attend. There are going to be talks and workshops at the event, too. Captain Joseph Pinto and Rose Pinto will be conducting a workshop called Cooking for Health, and Dr. Nandita Shah will be conducting a talk on the link between depression, anxiety and stress, and our diets.

It’s time to talk about the food! Now going vegan does mean cutting away a significant chunk of what you eat, and replacing it with plant-based goodness. While you’re at Ahimsa, though, you’ll have ALL the cheese, ice-cream, dahi bhalle, and even dahi kadhi you could possibly want - there will be tons of food stalls at the venue. And you guessed it - they’ll all specialise in creating vegan versions of your favourite non-vegan foods. Also expect NGOs like PAWS and FIAPO, which endeavor to make the world a better place for all animals.

Lastly, you’ll find a multitude of vegan brands at the festival, so you’ll be able to shop for vegan makeup and skincare, faux leather accessories, faux silk, and even hemp bags. So make sure your Sunday’s looking clear, because you can easily spend all of it here!

How’s the venue?

The Holy Family ground is an outdoor venue, where vegan stalls will be set up.
