Go Watch 15 New Plays At The NCPA Centrestage Festival This Week

Bhavika posted on 25th November

What Is It?

November has rolled around, and after the Prithvi Theatre Fest, it is now time for NCPA’s annual theatre festival, Centrestage. Showcasing premier shows of plays in multiple languages, Centrestage prides itself in its selection of plays, theatre groups and cast of characters.

Who Is It For?

We think that a culture vulture would find interest in this festival, as a selection of plays being cast for the first time can be caught here. Often, the plays which have premiered at Centrestage have made a presence in Indian and world theatre at International festivals.

Why Should I Go?

There would be 15 new plays screened here, in languages other than English and Hindi such as Gujarati, Marathi, hinted with bits of Urdu, Malayalam, and even Sanskrit. It includes plays such as The Relationship Agreement based on a contract drawn up by two people entering a relationship & how well that works out for them {ha}, and Naribai, written, acted and directed by Sushmita Mukherjee, the actress who is making an appearance on stage after 30-odd years.

Anything Else?

The festival has already begun, and the tickets are being sold here. At least, one evening for the coming week has been sorted.

When: Nov 25–Dec 4

Where: NCPA

Time: Depends on the show

Price: INR 200–400
