What Makes It Awesome
Started by Shilpa Iyer, The Ikat Heritage and Kalamargam are brands selling beautiful cloth of various types – hand block, printed, ikat, khadi, kalamkari; the material for all of which have been sourced from in and around Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It is worked on at their own loom facility in Telangana.
You can buy the cloth by itself from Shilpa under the label The Ikat Heritage, or buy some of the products designed by her as part of the brand, Kalamargam. This includes tote bags made of ikat, home furnishing such as table runners, cushion covers, and ready-to-buy Indo-western clothes. You can purchase them from Amazon India, and Facebook too,
The brand has its own studio for block-printing in Machilipatnam, and one for pen kalamkari work in New Kalahasthi near Tirupathi.
If you pick up a cloth piece from them at The Ikat Heritage, they can customise it for you and help you get something made {primarily bulk orders}, with the help of their in-house studio.
