1,300 Liquor Establishments Within City Limits Reopen Today, Post Five Months Of Ban

State Excise Department issues fresh orders after the recent clarification from Supreme Court that states- establishments within city limits do not come under the purview of liquor ban within 500 metres of state and national highways.

What Does This Mean?

This issue comes off as a huge relief to nearly 15,000 liquor establishments, across Maharashtra that were shut down in April. The State Excise Department issued fresh orders on Monday to renew the liquor licences of shops, restaurants and bars in Thane, Pune, Kalyan-Dombivli, Navi Mumbai, Aurangabad and Nashik.

So, We're Saying...

The liquor ban came as big blow to the Maharashtra liquor industry, affecting around 600 establishments in Pune and Pimpri-Chichwad area. With this fresh issue, it’s definitely a great news for the industry after months!
