What Makes It Awesome

It's no news that the entire stretch of Balewadi High Street is the next big thing of Pune. From fine dining restaurants to dessert parlours, it has it all! While everything seems quite great, we aren't very sure about the affordability out here. But fret not!

Say hi to Five Fat Monks, a new Pan-Asian restaurant at Balewadi, that vouches for a memorable and affordable culinary experience. Run by Mohini and Shishir Pundlik, Five Fat Monks is all about lip-smacking Asian street food with a twist!

We highly recommend you try their chilli Bombay paneer bao and the king Khaprao bao, for INR 235 each. Looking for something that is belly and soul filling? Dig into the oh-so-good clay pot rice with diced chicken, shitake mushroom, sesame oil and white pepper, for INR 260.

Veggies in the house, go for the Malaysian noodles, cooked to perfection with bean sprouts, roughly chopped veggies, and red chilli, for INR 240. Take a glass of mind refresher drink for INR 140; which is basically a soothing combination of amla, honey, mint and orange juice.

What's My Pro Tip?

Pair up your meal with a gravy of your choice. If you like it spicy, we recommend you go for the chicken in devil sauce, made of chilli paste, ginger and garlic. Like it sweet? Try either the lamb or the prawns in oyster sauce or sweet and sour sauce.

Anything Else?

Well, you can make your own wok too! While the small veg wok comes for INR 203, the non-veg one comes for INR 250. All you have to do is select your base of either plain or brown rice or flat noodles or bao. Then pick your protein - tofu, paneer, chicken, lamb, prawns and fish. You can select at least three kinds of veggies. Go for a sauce you love and opt for three garnishes, and voila, you've have done some 'good wok' out here!
