Here are some places you need to know, and scrumptious treats to try at each:

Fat Cat's Cafe:

Tucked away under the leafy canopy of Lane E, Fat Cat’s Cafe is a treasure trove of goodies. Run by one of Pune’s most talented bakers – Melanie Andrade – expect soul-satisfying comfort in every bite. Must Try: baked cheesecake, dense chocolate cake with salted caramel, crème brûlée brownies, carrot cake.

The brainchild of Chef Brice Poisson; nobody does French pastry in Pune like La Bouchee. Their cafe-style menu makes it a great place to pop into for a quick lunch, or a heavenly dessert. Must Try: tartlets, mini eclairs, Paris-brest.

Sassy Teaspoon:

Sassy Teaspoon: New kid on the block, Mumbai’s own Sassy Teaspoon recently opened in Koregaon Park to much fanfare. Their bakery boasts a menu spanning tarts and tea-cakes, to ice creams, brownies, breads, and pastries galore. Must Try: macarons, lemon meringue tart, hazelnut mousse, cinnamon roll.

Forennte:

Recently revamped, with an extended menu – Forennte is a great place to catch up with your friends over a slice of cake and a cup of coffee. In addition to their desserts, their sandwich menu also hold much promise. Must Try: Ferrero Rocher cake, gitto gateau, profiteroles, salted caramel cake.

The French Window:

Having relocated to a bigger space, Babita Karkaria’s The French Window Patisserie is back with an even bigger menu. From breakfast, to a full-fledged meal; everything sounds heavenly. Must Try: tiramisu, chocolate decadence, caramel mille-feuille, trois mousse pastry.
