Ten-Second Takeaway

You don’t have to go to a gym to exercise. zumba, aerobics, hot yoga, spin classes, etc. are all great ways to get fit, but we’ve found some cooler alternatives. Here are five unique fitness classes in Pune that don’t involve going to a gym.

Crossfit Chakra

Held at their private indoor-outdoor facility in Lane 5, CrossFit Chakra is all the rage among people trying to get in shape – and with good reason. Build your core strength, muscles, and stamina through a series of high-intensity workouts designed to strengthen and exercise your whole body. The batches are small, offering personal attention and interaction that you won’t see at a normal gym. We’ve heard really good things about them from friends of ours who are hooked. There are 9 batches per day {Monday – Friday} as well as on the first and third Saturday of every month. In addition to that, Crossfit Chakra also organizes outdoor activities {hikes, treks, etc} on most Saturdays when they’re not at their facility. If you’re curious enough, try one class for free before you make up your mind.

Price: INR 3,500/month, INR 9,000/3 months, INR 18,000/6 months & INR 25,000/year. For students with a valid ID card, monthly fees are INR 3000.

Timings: nine batches/day  {Mon-Fri}+ 1st & 3rd Saturday of the month.

Capoeira At Artsphere

Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art, which uses elements of dance and acrobatics. It distinguishes itself from other martial arts in that the movements are fluid, all about ‘music, camaraderie and axé (good energy)’. It’s all about power, speed, and agility – like a dance of war. Capoeria’s origins are rooted in slavery, and it was developed by the Angolan slaves in Brazil as a way of expressing themselves in a free and unrestricted way. Beginners start out with the basics, but the moves will grow more complex as you develop better co-ordination, strength, and balance with regular practice. It is performed barefoot, in a circle, to the tunes of traditional Brazilian music. Free your mind, body, and spirit with a session at Artsphere in Kalyani Nagar.
