What Makes It Awesome

Although there is no dearth of Pan-Asian cuisine in Pune, it is difficult to find an exclusive Japanese restaurant. End your quest for Miyuki at Doubletree By Hilton is ready to serve you some delectable eats. Pune's Japanese-only restaurant, it serves authentic Japanese options in veg as well as non-veg.

If you think of this place as a huge dining area, you are wrong. It is a small dining section consisting of 10-12 seats attached to a live counter station. Looking at the dark red walls with Japanese tapestry, you are sure to feel as if you have entered a Japanese household. While the decor was on point, the food was no behind. The chef who specialised in Japanese cooking made us several dishes, some even live.

For starters, we had the warm mushroom salad, a pan-tossed shitake-based dish with leafy lettuce. Followed that were two more specialities- Veg Korokke (a potato and cheese croquette with Japanese mayo and sauce), and tiger prawn Ebi tempura. Then came their choicest selection of Sushi- yasai sushi moriawase ( a veg California roll with sea-weed wraps), shrimp explosion (a shrimp tempura sushi dish) and sushi moriawase (traditional nigiri sushi with tuna and salmon).

Foodies, if you thought Japanese cooking lacks vegetarian options, you need to seriously rethink. Not only the veg options were aplenty but they were yummy too. The taste of all these items was authentic and we loved how well-marinated the sushi rice was. They claim that all the ingredients used for cooking are imported and are totally authentic.

For mains, we dug into the live Teppanyaki- a style of live cooking where the chef prepared char-grilled assorted vegetables called yasai itake. We also gorged on the typical yaki udon noodles and a pan-seared fish steak. The mains were very heavy but there has to be a space in your stomach for desserts. We were so full but we couldn't resist the in-house speciality- the matcha cheesecake.

The setting and taste of the food give you the feel of dining in a typical house. So, when in the mood for authentic Japanese, you know where to head!
