We're Up All Night For Good Fun: Pune Will Soon Be The Next 24X7 City In India

Pune is known for it’s youth and the most happening college life. The Maharashtra government has thus come up with the best reward this festive season- an act that legalizes 24×7 functioning of shops and restaurants and bars.

After the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Service Condition) Act, 2017 surfaced, party lovers and office goers were really excited because shops, restaurants, malls and bars were supposed to be open 24×7. However, this isn’t the case in Koregaon Park and other places in Pune where you would want places to be open all night. This is a welcome move for the revival of nightlife in the city. BPO employees will finally be able to shop after work and won’t have to wait for a day off. We will also get to enjoy late office parties now.

However, shops restaurant and shopping malls are a little apprehensive of the returns it might generate. Pune isn’t Dubai where midnight shopping or 3am movie shows are a thing. A couple of restaurants are checking the waters by pushing the service time by an hour.

As of now, shopping malls and stores are thinking of coming up with an alternative of extended hours instead of 24 hours to check how the scene works out for them.

Until, this takes shape we can only keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best!
