What Is It?

Piatto {meaning ‘plate’ in Italian} Dessert Studio in Kalyani Nagar is unlike any other we’ve visited in Pune. Their sleek, chic interiors offer just a hint of what to expect from their gorgeous dessert display.

Everything on the menu here is made from scratch {no synthetics or additives are used}, and with painstaking detail. We were absolutely blown away by what we tasted – nothing was too sweet, and each dessert has its own ‘personality’ and balance of textures. To put it plainly, if you’re a dessert person then this should be the #1 destination on your list. Here are 5 Insta-worthy desserts we loved at Piatto Dessert Studio.

Opera

Inspired by the traditional French Opera pastry, Piatto’s Opera is a little different. Served as a white chocolate and coffee mousse, with a 70% cocoa cremeux, a choco-almond sponge and wafer-thin butter biscuit at the base, this little entremet is finished with a coco mirror glaze. Coffee fans, forget Tiramisu and try this – you’ll thank us later.

Raspberry Chocolate

We loved the Raspberry Chocolate pastry ‘berry’ much. A milk chocolate and raspberry mousse, with real raspberry compote at the centre and chocolate-chip cookie at the base, topped with red mirror glaze – this one’s a winner in our hearts! This silky-smooth pastry is so good, you might not want to share.

Nutty Chocolate

Chocoholics – this is the holy grail of all chocolate pastries. Starting with a brownie base which is topped with a hazelnut mousse centre, encased in a crisp choco-nut shell with soft peaks of whipped ganache and edible flowers on top – need we say more?

Tropical Verrine

A Melbourne favourite, Chef Smaran’s Tropical Verrine is layered with a mango and passion-fruit curd base, coconut caviar center, and a salted oats crumb on top. Bonus points: it’s gluten-free and 100% satisfying to eat.

Macarons

Last but not least – go for the macarons {not macaroons}! We tried the peanut butter, mint chocolate, salted caramel, coffee, and orange – and couldn’t fault any of them. Made with pure flavours and extracts, they were just what we needed. Brighten up your Insta-feed with these pretty pops of colour, you won’t regret it.

#LBBTip

Piatto also has a sandwich, salad and beverage {cold-pressed juices, stellar coffee, hot chocolate, and smoothies} menu that’s worth checking out. They will be introducing their own range of vegan gelatos and sorbets in April, as well as sourdough and gluten-free breads, organic honey, jams, spreads, and much more – so keep an eye out!
