What Makes It Awesome?

Being in Pune since years it is quite difficult at times to indulge in rich South Indian flavours. Well, suggested by my friends. visited South Lagoon a few days back for dinner. As I entered, I was pleasantly surprised by how the place was with its beautiful paintings, dim lights and the soft background music being played. It felt like I was transported to the lands of Southern India.

To begin with, started with Tomato Rasam. This is the most well known aromatic South Indian recipe which was simple and tasty. For starters, I started with Mutton Chops and Kuzhi Paniyaram. The Mutton Chops cooked in a masala was bursting with wonderful flavours. It was spicy and would recommend this. Kuzhi paniyaram is ball-shaped rice batter dumplings and it was good enough served with chutney.

There were so many options from the main course to choose from. We went ahead with Kai Kari Kurma and Andhra Chicken Curry which was served with Appam, Malabar Paratha and Iddiappam. Kai Kari Kurma was a vegan dish which had veggies simmered in coconut gravy and spices. Andhra Chicken Curry was a delicious chicken curry which I personally liked the most. It had a blend of spicy masala with soft chicken pieces. Next up was their Pallipalayam Chicken Biriyani, which truly stole the show. The flavours used were incredible and left us wishing we weren’t so stuffed.

Also, Gulab Jamun and Semiya Payasam proved to be the perfect end to a great meal. The flavours were delicate and low in sugar so that you can relish the same.

Overall had a good time here and would recommend that one should drop by here to enjoy some authentic South Indian Flavors
