This Homegrown Brand Will Upcycle Vintage Clothes & Make Saris For You

What Makes It Awesome

Ek Dori was started by Abhilasha Mehta in October 2017, launched at the Sanskriti Lifestyle Diwali Bazaar. Always a creative person at heart, Abhilasha followed the conventional engineering-MBA-marriage route until 2009, when a personal experience changed her outlook on life. She began to experiment in designing and making her own apparel, but it didn't pan out. After years of self-doubt, she once again decided to pick up the reins and unleash her creativity in a newfound way - helping underprivileged women in the process. Her strong drive to create, paired with her inherent attention to detail has culminated in a unique, beautiful lifestyle brand {Ek Dori}.  Ek Dori's apparel range has featured ikkat, banjara, and doodle inspired collections in jackets, dresses, saris, and accessories. Almost everything is hand-made, and Abhilasha works very closely with her tailors and weavers. They pride themselves on their craftsmanship and also try to recycle, re-use, and up-cycle as much of the cloth as possible. You'll often see this in their dresses, applique work, or hair accessories - and they aim to be zero-waste as far as possible. Their hottest selling items are the printed linen saris, which often have a theme of their own - like Frida Kahlo, sheep, the monsoons, or a hand-stitched verse or poem that Abhilasha found inspiration in. Each piece is one-of-a-kind in its own right, and almost every item of clothing has vintage materials incorporated into it. Saris are priced between INR 2,000 - INR 5,000, and dresses between INR 1,500 - INR 3,000. We find their clothing to be extremely endearing and quirky, and a great addition to anyone's wardrobe. Hand-made jewellery and vintage accessories like their 'Roses in my Hair' accessory for INR 400, and the stunning Raat Rani Bag by Maharani Baug for INR 2,900 can elevate an ordinary outfit to a whole new level of style. Ek Dori also curates vintage brassware, which Abhilasha finds on her travels around the country. We like their Kantha cushion covers for INR 400, old lassi tumblers from INR 1,850 onward, and beautiful vintage paandans priced at INR 2,950.  Currently, Ek Dori sells via their website: {} only, but may be planning a pop-up or two in the future - so keep a careful eye on their Instagram feed.
