What Makes It Awesome?

The Mud House is a contemporary-chic furniture store that showcases collections of furniture, furnishings, home decor, crockery, and more in Aundh. Started by Dipti Shah and her brothers a few years ago, they initially set up shop in Singapore with a much more eclectic collection of furniture. Soon enough, Dipti decided to bring the store back to her home base – Pune – and now runs it independently. An interior designer by profession, her 15-year career and lifelong dream has now been realised in the form of The Mud House.

Dipti’s passion for aesthetics lends a lot of personality to her designs. This is even reflected in the store itself – from hand-painted quotes on the wall to the beautiful fairy-tale style mirror that is mounted near the entrance (which Dipti designed herself).

There are three categories of furniture here: first, ready-made pieces which Dipti curates and sources from her suppliers; second, their own collection which they manufacture specifically for the store; and third, is the customised furniture that Dipti designs for architects, projects, etc. The bulk of Dipti’s pieces are made-to-order and are not displayed at the store. A lot of their furniture is centered around rustic, vintage, French-style designs; be it beds, armchairs, sofa sets, or dining chairs.

Dipti takes on interior design projects by appointment and also undertakes consultancy projects. They also stock other brands in crockery, and home furnishings (bed linens, pillows, etc.). We found pretty cushion covers for INR 500, quirky-cute ‘bird nest’ hanging lamps from INR 900 onwards, plush quilt sets from INR 5000, and beautiful pastel chairs for INR 8500 per piece (plus taxes). If you want to add a bit of charm and personality to your home, this is where you should shop.

Pro-Tip

The Mud House is open all days of the week except for Sunday from 10:30 am - 8: 30 pm. They also have a special ‘restaurant’ design section – and have worked with restaurants like The Irish House, Cream Center, and more across the country.
