Did You Know There's A Secret Venue In Pune That Organises Stand-Up Comedy Nights?

If you love stand-up comedy, you simply must not miss out on the live performances at The Room- a secret venue we’re quite sure not many know about.

Located next to E-Square, The Room is a lifestyle/fitness space by day, and a bi-monthly live comedy venue by night. Programmed and organised by Pushkar Bendre and Mandar Bhide, they tout The Room as ‘the only regular indoor comedy performance space in Pune’. It started out with Pushkar doing a one-off live comedy performance for the owner and members of The Room, but it soon blossomed into a regular event. Stand-up gigs here are dedicated to no-frills live performance comedy {always with a featured artist} – and so you won’t find any food or drinks being served here. Gigs happen twice a month on Sunday evenings, usually from 8pm to 9:30pm; and they just completed one year of hosting live performances. Some of the biggest names in Indian stand-up comedy like Abhishek Upmanyu, Karunesh Talwar, Abhijit Ganguly, Aakash Mehta, etc. have taken the stage, as well as several other comedians from around the country. Performances are not relegated to English – there have been bi-lingual, Hindi and pure Marathi stand-up specials as well {they even have an upcoming one in Tamil}. The Room can comfortably fit around 120 seats, and tickets are reasonably priced {usually between INR 250 – 400}, but cost can vary according to the featured performer.
