Alia Bhatt just gave us the push we needed to dig out colourful chiffon sarees of the trunk and have a field day trying them on (even if for imaginary situations in our brains). Not like chiffon sarees ever went out of fashion, but let's face it, we were all chasing the subtle minimal aesthetic with neutral colours and somewhere slept on the fun of colours (except pink because of Barbie, of course). Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani has brought us back to embracing the splash of colour all over our clothes and taught us that nothing beats the simplicity (and regality) of a light saree with a well-fitted blouse—the perfect pick-me for your not-so-extra ethnic occasions or boardroom meetings when you want to leave an impression. And so, here we are, helping you recreate some of Alia's best saree(torial) moments from the film. Our magnifying eyes kept a tab on her looks and found similar seven yards to help you have your 'Rani' moment. Read on!

While people are split on whether this song deserves a permanent spot in their Bollywood playlist (read: love-hate relationship with remakes), we stand clear that Alia's look for the song made everyone swoon (in unison). The multicoloured saree's recreations are all over Instagram Reels for its rainbow-hue and mix-and-match vibe with the Kutch-embroidered blouse.

Recreate this look by pairing a breezy multicoloured georgette saree (we found you the same one under INR 2,000) with an embroidered blouse, Kutch or Phulkari embroidery would do the trick if you want to stick to the colourful threadwork zone, or switch to colourful beaded embroidery if you plan to wear it for a wedding function. Do make a note, and style the saree with silver oxidised jhumkas and a nose pin to nail Rani's look.

Watching Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani (or RRKPK) is a walk down memory lane that hits you with classic rom-com nostalgia in every alternate scene with either the songs or the crew's sartorial choices. And so, it doesn't come as a surprise that the movie's most awaited soundtrack (because it involves KJo making the lead couple dance on top of a snow-clad mountain) had us reminiscing some of the most iconic Bollywood saree looks. This saree look has been inspired by Aishwarya's lacey pink saree from Mohabbatein, a cult YRF classic that will forever remain sketched in our memory.

Recreating this look is really simple, raid your mom's closet for a sheer lace saree or buy this one from Odette. Team it up with a lace corset or bustier that you can also wear with a pair of jeans or trousers for your night out. Also, take notes from Alia and keep the accessories simple with a pair of stud earrings to let the showstopping saree do the talking.

RRKPK shows Alia Bhatt wearing sarees in a range of colours, from minimal neutrals to acid hues, you can never guess what the sartorial vibe will be in the next scene. And when you have to match Ranveer Singh's unconventionally electrifying outfits, a neon saree is a great piece to get your fashion game on. Love how this plain chiffon saree is styled with a geometric print blouse that fits like a glove and compliments Alia's torso.

We found a similar chiffon saree in lime green, which will look great with embroidered as well as plain blouses. To sweeten your purchase, think of getting two blouses made so that you can carry off the same saree on different occasions. Invest in good-quality silver bangles that won't tarnish easily and don't sleep on the magic of a tiny bindi (a Rani staple) to complete the look.

Alia Bhatt's look in the Durga Puja scene in this ravishing red saree with beautiful gold motifs and intricately embroidered borders, is definitely going be THE look this festive season. This look should be your guide on how to wear a red and gold saree when you don't mind looking OTT. Loved how the blouse featured puffed sleeves, which brought a touch of youthfulness to the otherwise traditional red saree.

To ace this look, get your hands on a red saree with a stylised blouse like Alia's and consider draping the saree low on the waist if you are feeling bold. Don't be shy of going all out with gold jewellery for a wedding function or festival and takes cues from Alia to style your hair in loose waves.

Leheriya Saree

Rani Chatterjee, Alia Bhatt's character in the movie is a TV news presenter (don't bash us for spoilers, the movie has already made above hundred crores) and is seen in a different saree for every scene. This look from the movie should be your handbook on sarees for office wear. It's light, vibrant and easy to move in, won't restrict you from acing it at work while you look like a Bollywood diva from a Ninetees rom-com.

Mixing prints is the trick to Alia's effortless look here. Style a similar leheriya saree with a blouse that provides full support (because you want to feel comfortable at work) and try opting for a contrasting print like bootis or florals to break the monotony. Keep the accessories simple with a pair of light earrings and tie your hair in a slicked-back bun or pony for a polished look.
