The best thing that's happened to the skincare industry in half a decade is everything boiling down to science. We've strayed away from using charcoal and walnut shells and hoping for the best to actually reading labels, understanding ingredients, potencies, skin types and using science-backed products for our face that yield the best results.

One of the brands that have been championing this in India is Minimalist, known for its clean, no-fuss, science-backed products that are all about transparency and driving results for a myriad of skin concerns that range from prevention and anti-ageing to skin maintenance.

Being lovers of Minimalist for a couple of years now, we decided to try their newest launch, and here's what our Head of Brand and Content Marketing had to say!

I'm a 33 year old with dry to combination skin type that tends to play up during weather changes. Also, being a full-time hustler and a mom, I do drop the ball when it comes to my skincare as much as I try not to! In all honestly, in the past year or so, I have been seeing fine lines near my eyes and mouth, in addition to my skin's texture changing. So of course I got my hands on the new drop from Minimalist, which is the Retinal 0.2% Liposomal Cream.

My first thoughts were "oh no, this is acrylic paint" mainly because the formula is a bright rust orange that feels like it's staining your skin! But after using a pea sized amount (as directed) for as less as two weeks, I did see my skin's texture become smoother and skin feeling much stronger. When it comes to the fine lines, I do not see any difference so soon, but I am willing to give it another month!

What I love about the product itself is the packaging which is super fuss-free and easy to use, and of course the ingredients that are all backed by science. The hero ingredient— retinal is a powerful retinoid known for its effectiveness in diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, and fun fact: is also known to be better than retinol. It is also packed with retinaldehyde (the most efficacious form of vitamin A), Liposomal technology that helps with absorption and stability, resveratrol that slows down photoaging, EUK 134 that protects from UV and DNA damage, and lastly, Tasmanian fruit extract that helps smoothen and reduce redness.

LBB tip: the product is also free from toxins, parabens and fragrance.

Pros: Absorbs easily into the skin

Cons: Colour tends to stain a bit which can be a bit jarring initially.
