'New year, new me' requires an energy shift that may or may not be helped with little tweaking here and there in your external environment aka your home. And while redecorating (or renovating) your home is mostly an exciting journey with so many choices and decisions to make, it can often lead you to becoming a trend-monger if you go by what's booming on the internet.

But, luckily for all of us, home trends predicted to become insanely popular in 2024 are mostly centred on taking it down a notch, or going fully overboard and working with ideas that are all about being your true authentic self, with your home reflecting your interests.

So, we took a beat and decided to list down a few home decor and interior trends we feel should be on your radar in 2024 if you are planning on giving your space a fresh look.

Quiet Luxury But Make It Livable

Quiet luxury was seen having a field day in the fashion (and even beauty) world in 2023, and it may or may not have crossed over into our home decor taste as well. But 2023 was all about going a step back and doing things with a slightly ‘minimal’ POV with neutral tones and understated accents to make your home appear more sophisticated (inserts picture of Ralph Lauren Home’s store). However, 2024 is going to be the time when people prioritise comfort or feasibility over looks, and add some playfulness to their spaces while not straying too far from the luxury quotient. Think cosy furniture, darker hues for the walls that are not too in your face, and heirloom decor pieces that subtly say you aren’t rich, you are wealthy.

Dopamine Decor

This year, Dopamine Decor is all set to overtake the virality of Barbiecore. The trend is all about vibrant colours, clashing patterns, maximalism and pure happiness (what it’s named after). A complete opposite to minimalism, but more than maximalism, when you think of Dopamine Decor think of outlandish patterns, colours, posters, singages and basically your teenage bedroom where anything went everywhere but still made sense because you personalised it. It’s all about being chaotic yet aesthetically pleasing. A great example would be the image above by Ellen Elizabeth who’s dining room is what most of us are aspiring to have this year.

Sunlight Over Fancy Lighting Fixtures

Not that any sort of fancy lighting could ever explain the dopamine and aesthetic of our favourite ball of hydrogen and helium, the sun that is. Not only is sunlight the most aesthetically pleasing accessory for a home, it also does wonders for your physical and mental health, boosting serotonin production and making one glow with natural happiness. From floor to ceiling windows, to tiny ones over the bathtub or the kitchen counter, incorporating natural lighting in the structure of the house will take precedence over the grandeur of chandeliers, pendant lights, and lamps.

Jewel Tones

Good news for folks who love vibrancy in their homes, because jewel tones are seemingly coming back in 2024. The last year was all about embracing the neutrals, but with sophisticated luxury hyping, the captivating synergy, and richness of jewel tones are on all decor enthusiasts’ radar. Jewel tones are versatile and offer a depth of texture and colour to an otherwise plane design. They can be easily incorporated in powder rooms, bedrooms, and dining areas, and remember to place them cleverly, as if not styled rightly they can make the space look darker. Personalised Minimalism

2024 isn’t going to be the year when we bid goodbye to minimalism in the home decor space. But, be prepared to witness a few changes to this trend as it gets a bit more personalised with one’s personality shining through. All in all, this trend is all about elegant homes with a contemporary appeal that offer the perfect mix of versatility and timeless charm. Along with this they'll also be emphasis on adding life to the space with vintage finds, artisanal craft pieces and decor that matches one’s individuality (be it a cottagecore-inspired floral wallpaper or murals if you are an art connoisseur). Sustainability

With sustainability taking the much-needed center stage, we really hope to see the idea getting incorporated into home decor more and more in 2024. The usage of materials like corn fiber, vegan leather, zero-waste organic cotton, and wood textures, with more design styles that create a symphony between the outside and inside. Cafécore

As per the Pinterest prediction for 2024, Cafe Core is going to be huge. There is a surge in the search for coffee bar styling and kafé aesthetic, and to be honest, we’re here for anything that involves a good cup of coffee. Think sunlit corners, with plants, open shelves and retro decor that makes a space look so warm and cosy, all you want to do is sit back and relax. Uli has created something similar at her home, and we’re already feeling inspired.
