There are very few brands in the world as iconic as Adidas. From iconic collections with designers such as Stella McCartney, celebrities like Beyoncé, to classic shoes to fall back on, it has always been a brand that gave us all that, and the motto— "impossible is nothing." Whether you're someone who prefers streetwear or have a more 'old money' aesthetic, we can bet you have a pair of Adidas in your wardrobe, and with good reason. The brand never goes out of style, and the shoes go with everything.

While Sambas may be the 'It Girl' sneaker right now, we all know the brand has, and always will be on the list of movers and shakers in the world of sneakers. Here are some iconic adidas sneakers to invest in, that will never go out of style.

Stan Smiths

The OG Adidas sneakers if there ever were one. Back in the day, when white sneakers were all the rage, you couldn’t walk fifteen steps without stepping on someone’s pristine, shiny Stan Smith’s (this observation may or may not have been influenced by the Delhi metro). The pair refuses to go out of style, and we credit it to the simple elegance of it. From trench coats and turtlenecks to jeans and a T-shirt, no matter where your fit lands on the style spectrum, you could throw on Stan Smiths and it would fit just right. Additionally, the amount of celebrities these have been spotted on–from Ye and North West to David Beckham and Miranda Kerr–is testament to their versatility.

If there were shoes that had a classic Adidas look, Gazelles would be it. They come in multiple colourways and have an elevated look to them, thanks to the stitching style. These are more casual than Sambas, since the sole is white. What we love most is that they pair great with sundresses, jeans, and semi-formal fits.

Superstars

The Adidas Superstars have left an undeniable mark on sneaker culture. Came into being in the 1970’s as the basketball shoes with almost 70% of the players sporting them, they quickly flipped their athletic origins to become a global fashion phenomenon, thanks to the Hip Hop wave of the next decade. The distinct shell-toe design, three stripes, and timeless silhouette have made them a symbol of street style and comfort. From top-notch celebrity collaborations (like Pharell Williams and Beyoncé) to giant replicas showcasing its game-changing position in the market, the Superstars have seen it all, and are definitely the pair to hold on to for all sneaker heads and easy dressers alike.

If you are looking for sporty, comfortable and sturdy trainers, look no further than the Adidas Coutbeats. The synthetic leather upper has a retro court-inspired look for comfort and durability while the rubber cupsole keeps the look clean, and gives an elevated grip to the cushion sole. While they don’t look as stylish as the other options in this list, if you seek comfort over style, then give these shoes a try for everyday wear, we promise you won’t regret.

NMDs

It doesn’t get more classic than Adidas NMDs. An immensely popular choice, the NMDs are known for their textile/stretch knit upper, which hugs the foot with a sock-like fitting. They also boast of the BOOST midsole cushioning on which you can rest your feet comfortably ahead a of long day. The various NMD models like NMD R1s, NMD S1s, NMD V3s all come in a variety of budgets, colours and styles, all of which look chic and are super comfortable too. NMD stands for ‘nomad,’ and the shoe is built for the ‘urban nomad,’ who cares about comfort as well as style.

Ultraboost

Ultraboost

Adidas’ running shoes, Ultraboost is a great companion for your morning and evening runs. It has a ‘responsive running’ technology, which adjusts to change in scenery really quickly (like from a park to pavement). The shoes have a PRIMEKNIT foot-hugging upper, that enhances movement with its supportive fit. The hero of this model though is the Continental ‘Better’ Rubber outsole, which gives it its distinctive look and makes it the OG running shoe that it is! It also comes in an Ultraboost Light, Ultraboost 1.0, Ultraboost 4D, and X PLR Boost versions.

The original Ozweego’s were introduced back in 1996, and if there is one somewhat chunky sneakers that we like, it’s this one. Initially, the shoe was made for running, and through multiple iterations it’s now deemed as a training shoe that’s also paved it’s way as a lifestyle sneaker. We’ve personally worn this shoe, and it’s so lightweight, it’s unreal, plus at the same time, pretty comfortable too. It fits snugly, is cushioned well and is available in multiple colourways, but our favourite remains the white ones with reflective stripes.

Designed by French designer Jacques Chassaing, the Adidas Forums are a beautiful work of art that made their debut in 1984. The initial price tag of $100 might be the reason why they were able to enter the market but it’s because of their iconic style that they’re still much loved worldwide. The Forum Hi are what basketball players wore, as it offers maximum ankle support and shock absorption but Mid and Low are loved alike. If we had to choose, we’d go with the Forum Low any day!
