The International Society for Krishna Consciousness, aka ISKCON temple, was founded in 1966 by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. The ISKON temple in Bangalore was inaugurated in 1997, marking over two decades of its existence and strong following in the city.
The ISKCON temple Bangalore is one of the largest Krishna-Hindu temple, dedicated to the Hindu deities of Radha and Krishna. The principal scripture of The Hare Krishna Movement traces its origins to more than 5,000 years ago from the Bhagavad Gita.
ISKCON Bangalore has two main temples, one in ISKCON Vaikuntha Hill, and the other is ISKCON Hare Krishna Hill. ISKCON Vaikuntha Hill was recently inaugurated in 2022 and is built according to the Shilpa shastras in the Dravidian style of architecture. Timings: ISKCON Hare Krishna Hill opens at 4.30 AM to 5.20 AM, 7.15 AM to 1.15 PM; and then in the evening at 4.15 PM to 8 PM. On the weekends, the temple is open the entire day, from 7.15 AM to 8 PM.
Dress code: As a sign of respect, people are expected to dress in formal or traditional attire.
